Lost Somethin' Special

On the first morning of summer vacation, Shayla finally lost the loosest tooth ever. It was so loose it was sticking almost straight out, and it didn't even bleed when it fell out! Of course, she lost it when her brother smacked her in the face while they were fighting over a toy, and she was hysterically crying. So I tried to console her by telling her the tooth fairy would bring her money, and Christopher says in all seriousness, "Can I have 25 cents for knocking it out?"

Last Week of School

The last week of school has been full of fun and festivities...and more fun, and more festivities...Above are photos of the Second Grade Awards Ceremony, where Christopher received the Character Counts award, and Shayla on the last day of kindergarten. Shayla loved receiving her first yearbook, but was very sad to say goodbye to Miss Fordyce, who Shayla will tell you is the best teacher in the whole world. Here's to summer vacation!!!

Camping at the Beach

Here we are at Carlsbad State Beach last weekend, with our friends Helen, Matt, Jonathan, Leah, Sarah, Samuel, Colleen, Justin and Amanda. I think we exceeded the maximum number of people allowed at one campsite, but who's counting? The weather was perfect and the kids had a blast playing at the beach, in the dirt, in the "kid tent," dancing to Hannah Montana and Sting, trading Pokemon cards, making s'mores, and telling crazy funny stories around the campfire. This has become an annual tradition for the Mauerman and Greenbergs families, and we are trying to talk the Kennedy-Foster family into "roughing it" with us and spending the night next year, especially since Colleen brings such yummy treats (thanks for those brownies and peach cobbler!). And Happy #40 Helen!!

Maegan's Graduation from Villanova

Kelley traveled to Philadelphia for her niece Maegan's graduation from Villanova University -- congrats, Maegan! It was a great trip with Mom, John, Irma and of course, Maegan. Kelley even got to spend a day in New York City all by herself and saw the show Jersey Boys, which was awesome! Grammy stayed at our house to help out with the kids. Thanks, Grammy!
